Overnight Stay: Departure / End of Tour Meals Included: Breakfast Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): Why choose a fly-in safari to Nyerere National Park over an overland trip? A fly-in safari saves up to 6–7 hours of bumpy driving each way from Dar es Salaam, allowing you to maximize your wildlife viewing time and enjoy stunning aerial views of Southern Tanzania's landscapes. What makes Nyerere National Park (Selous) different from the Serengeti? Nyerere is far less crowded, offers unique water-based boat safaris on the Rufiji River, features legally permitted walking safaris, and holds one of the world's largest populations of endangered African wild dogs. Is the flight luggage allowance strictly enforced? Yes. Bush flights between Dar es Salaam/Zanzibar and airstrips in Nyerere operate on small light aircraft (e.g., Cessna Caravans) with a strict soft-bag luggage weight limit of 15 kg (33 lbs) per passenger. Are open-sided vehicles used for game drives? Yes, game drives in Nyerere typically utilize custom open-sided 4x4 Land Cruisers, offering unobstructed 360-degree photography angles and an intimate wilderness experience. Is a walking safari safe? Yes. Walking safaris are strictly led by highly trained, certified professional guides and accompanied by an armed TANAPA park ranger trained in wildlife safety protocols. When is the best time of year to visit Nyerere National Park? The dry season from June to October is ideal for wildlife viewing, as animals concentrate around the Rufiji River and dry riverbeds. November to March is excellent for birdwatching and lush landscapes. Can this safari start directly from Zanzibar? Yes, direct daily bush flights operate from Zanzibar Airport (ZNZ) straight to Nyerere airstrips, making this the ideal short wildlife add-on for beach visitors. Are children allowed on this safari? Most lodges welcome children aged 6 and above. However, guided bush walking safaris typically have a minimum age limit of 12 years due to safety regulations. Are malaria precautions necessary for Southern Tanzania? Yes, Nyerere National Park is in a malaria-endemic zone. Guests are advised to consult a travel clinic for recommended antimalarial medication, insect repellent, and lightweight long sleeves for evenings.

Strict Light Aircraft Luggage Weight Allowance: Domestic bush flights operate small aircraft with a mandatory maximum baggage limit of 15 kg (33 lbs) per passenger in soft-sided duffel bags. Hard suitcases are strictly prohibited. Mandatory Ranger Escort on Bush Walks: Guided walking safaris are strictly conducted in single file under the escort of a licensed, armed TANAPA park ranger and an experienced safari tracker. Guests must follow all ranger signals and safety commands at all times. Water Safety on Rufiji River Safaris: All river boat safaris utilize stable, certified vessels equipped with safety gear and life jackets. Guests must remain seated and keep arms/hands inside the boat frame due to active crocodile and hippo populations. Strict Tsetse Fly Attire Guidance: Neutral-colored clothing (khaki, tan, beige, or light green) is strongly recommended. Dark blue and black clothing should be avoided, as these colors attract tsetse flies in miombo woodland areas. Guests are strongly advised to consult a travel health specialist regarding antimalarial prophylaxis prior to travel.
